The Roaring Twenties

After reading and investigating about the USA during the 1920's we decided to collect all the information into a Mind Map. I worked with Popplet.

Story

In L/L Writing we had to write a short story that in a way, it had to be connected to the poem "Father Returning Home",  by Dilip Chitre.

A nice and sad memory

It was a sunny Sunday when we were having a warm lunch at my grandmother's house. It was the day before my vacation started. All the family were sitting down around the central table, sharing some funny anecdotes. All of us were there: my parents, my sister, my brothers, my aunts, my uncles, my cousins, my granny and fundamentally my uncle Edward. That day was specially for those who were going to travel. Some of them were going to Pinamar, others to Salta and we (my family) were going to Córdoba.

I may say that we were having a great time in the river with our friends. It was a sunny afternoon and we were enjoying some fresh-fruits drinks. It was a perfect day until the phone rang. It was a call from Pinamar. While my mother was hearing that voice over the phone, tears started to slide on her face. An accident had happened. Who was it? It was Edward. After four hours in the hospital he died. 

That sunny Sunday was the last time I ever saw him with his smile, with his mussels, with his amazing blue eyes, alive. That was the last time I ever saw them together as a lovely family. 

Turismo en América

En geografía investigamos las características generales de diferentes países, hicimos una presentación con la información y finalmente la presentamos oralmente.

¿Por qué leo?

Luego de leer el texto "¿Por qué escribo?" de George Orwell, redactamos un texto acerca de algo que nos gustase hacer. En mi caso, escribí por qué leo en mi tiempo libre. 

Cuando era pequeña me regalaron un cuento corto con hermosas ilustraciones. Yo tenía cuatro años y no sabia leer, por eso mi madre me lo leía cada noche. A mi me encantaba. Aquel libro me brindaba un mundo imaginario; me abría la creatividad. Como me gustaba tanto, de a poco me lo fui memorizando. Fue cuando descubrí, por primera vez, la verdadera belleza de la lectura. 

Yo soy la mayor de cuatro hermanos. Nunca tuve esa oportunidad que tienen mis hermanos hoy en día; la de aprender del mayor. Pues a mí me costo mucho aprender a leer y escribir. Gracias al colegio fui mejorando. 

Actualmente noto que el uso de dispositivos electrónicos ha tomado el control, y la lectura impresa no es tan popular. Afortunadamente, existen muchas sitios donde encontrar todo tipo de texto digitalizado, pero en mi opinión, la experiencia de leer un libro impreso sigue siendo incomparable.

Sin importar el formato del texto, la lectura nos ofrece grandiosos beneficios.

La lectura te da nuevas perspectivas. El poder leer te brinda un mundo imaginario, te alimenta la creatividad. Leer es como ver una película, con muchísimos más detalles. Te ayuda con el conocimiento de nuevas palabras y mejora la ortografía. La lectura te instruye. Mediante los diferentes textos que lees podés ir conociendo las costumbres de otras personas, su cultura. Un buen libro es capaz de hacerte soñar, de lograr que te pongas en el lugar de otros.  Un libro crea nuevos vínculos con mundos de ficción, con la historia, con la ciencia y con su escritor. ¡ME ENCANTA LEER!
