Diary entry

In the class of L/L Writing we wrote a diary entry as if we were a grandmother. The main idea and the characters are taken from a poem we read in Literature. The poem: "For my grandmother Knitting" by Liz Lochhead.

Dear diary,
Today was a boring day, like always.
My family had visited me today. And, actually, when your family visits you to the bad smelling retirement place where you are living it's a great day. But, unhappily that's not my case. Every time they come here, they judge every single thing I do. And all I do in this nasty hole is to knit. When they are here they remind me that now I'm useless. What I have done since I was a little fisher girl was to knit. And I love to! Knitting has been my favourite hobby for years and now I'm supposed to stop doing that because it bothers them, they think that it's unnecessary. But, what they don't know is that when I knit, my mind lies away miles decades back. A world where everything was peace and love, and where I felt useful.
In that beautiful place I don't mind if they don't want my creations.
I wish they could understand me one day. And also I would like to transmit this art to a grandchild and in that journey I would bring back to life those beautiful days of youth; telling her or him the stories of my life, and how happy their parents were when they were born.
I'm really tired now, after a long day.
Love, Caro.
